DavidAcland 08:42, 16 February 2012 (UTC) Need to discuss how to handle multiple official text in different languages. Check use of LANGGE.

raphael 05:30, 3 August 2012 (UTC): With the new TSMAD model of TXTDSC, the complex sub-attribute TXTDSC in TXTCON can be replaced here by its own simple attribute "fileName" because LANGGE appears in TXTCON as well as in complex textualDescription (the block for textualDescription in the MPA UML diagram explains the situation).

raphael 06:21, 9 September 2012 (UTC): If we are going to cite URLs in TXTCON, as in the sample mapping for the MPA dataset, I suggest adding ADRNET as another sub-attribute of TXTCON.

jens 10:26, 9 September 2012 (UTC) Sounds reasonable. Before introducing we should check the definition TSMAD has to provide for fileName. My assumption was that fileName includes URL as well. Apart from the UML provided by Eivind during one of our last meetings I was not able to find any information that this is complex now on the registry website. May be Eivind knows more. I will be happy to add ADRNET if I was wrong. Actually I will add it as a pending suggestion.

raphael 02:08, 10 September 2012 (UTC): There is a proposal before TSMAD to add a new data type for file path relative to the root of the exchange set. This would affect the fileName sub-attribute. For now I think we should just keep an eye on it until TSMAD has finalized the definition.

jens 17:27, 22 October 2012 (UTC) to pick up S101 DCEG group's suggestion I added the (source) citation, just for the case that SORIND will not survive and we are able to provide an appropriate solution.

raphael 23:24, 30 May 2014 (UTC): Should update definitnion to match recent email discussion and resultant introduction of onlineResource to replace ADRNET. Perhaps after discussing harmonisation of models with the TSMAD S-101 sub-wg?

Also, here is another issue for harmonisation: Change "filename" -> "fileReference"(?). TSMAD uses a simple attribute "file reference" as a sub-attribute of "textual description" (Jan. 2014 DCEG).

jens 12:03, 2 June 2014 (UTC) See my email from today. That makes me more confuse.

raphael 17:15, 2 June 2014 (UTC): I meant the model should be as below (for now - the final version depends on the harmonization with S-101).

Name AlphaCode CamelCase Multiplicity Sequential
Category of text CATTXT categoryOfText 1 n/a
Language LANGGE language 0..1 n/a
Headline HEADLN headline 0..1 n/a
File reference FILREF(?) fileReference 0..1 n/a
File locator FILLOC fileLocator 0..1 n/a
text TEXTZZ text 0..1 n/a
online Resource onlineResource 0..1 n/a
Source Indication sourceIndication 0..1 n/a

proposal to be discussed with TSMAD

Name AlphaCode CamelCase Multiplicity Sequential
Category of text CATTXT categoryOfText 1 n/a
(new)information (TBD) (TBD) 0..* false
online Resource onlineResource 0..1 n/a
Source Indication sourceIndication 0..1 n/a

And the new complex attribute (new)information defined below will replace complex attributes Information and Textual description:

Name AlphaCode CamelCase Multiplicity Sequential
Language LANGGE language 0..1 n/a
Headline HEADLN headline 0..1 (or 0..*) n/a (True, if mult. is 0..*)
File reference FILREF(?) fileReference 0..1 n/a
File locator FILLOC fileLocator 0..1 n/a
text TEXTZZ(?) text 0..1 n/a

raphael 04:46, 27 August 2014 (UTC): Suggest updating the TXTCON page to use the current names of sub-attributes in the first column:

  • replace "Information(text)" with "text"
  • "Textual description (file reference)" with "file reference"

briana 17:03, 26 August 2016 (UTC): Suggest clarifying the TXTCON page as the following doesn't follow the table shown:

Conditions: 1. Either TXTDSC, onlineResource or INFORM must be completed in one instance of TXTCON, but not more than one of these.

TXTDSC isn't listed in the table, so the table should be updated to reflect it. OR TXTDSC should be changed to CATTXT which is listed in the table.

Also, SORIND should be the AlphaCode for the Source Indication (as it is in the FCD already: SORIND)

raphael (talk) 03:53, 2 February 2017 (CET): Revision to Remarks section, to conform to replacement of TXTDSC by (new) information complex attribute and avoid use of 6-letter acronyms. Also, there is no 'Conditions' section in the registry.
Remarks:

  • Exactly one of sub-attributes onlineResource or information must be completed in one instance of textContent.
  • Product specifications may restrict the use or content of onlineResource for security. For example, a product specification may forbid populating onlineResource.
  • Product specification authors must consider whether applications using the data product may be prevented from accessing off-system resources by security policies.

Also needs a definition.
Proposed definition: Textual material, or a pointer to a resource providing textual material. May be accompanied by basic information about its source and relationship to the source.
Remarks:

  • textContent is intended to allow text passages from other publications to be included in, or referenced by, instances of feature or information types.
  • Textual information for which no appropriate specialized Text-type attribute is bound to the feature/information type can be encoded using either information or textContent complex attributes. Generally, either information or textContent is allowed, but not both.
