FR SDs case study

reference: presentation by Yves Le Franc (NIPWG9-VTC03, 14 December 2022) item 06.8A: [here ]

Invitation e-mail:

Dear all,

Sorry for this late message. My urgent todo list inflated dramatically recently, putting this necessary action on hold. My fault.

As agreed at NIPWG23 last month, I will be collecting your contributions/reflections/feed-backs on the Shom Sailing directions case study.

The aim is to benefit from your expert-but-from-the-outside (i.e, not Shom) view on how (what S-1XX, what feature, why) you would encode the various elements, and identify the possible gaps/shortcomings impeding the extensive coding of this publication into S-1XX.

Moreover, as expressed by Eivind during our meeting in Monaco, it may also be an opportunity to share practices and compare with how your HO would deal with these issues, thus better know each other's "traditions" and points of views on the SD matter.

The proposed case study can be found on the IHO website, at "NIPWG9 – Action item 21: Gap between French SDs and S-100 based nautical publications". This presentation by Yves le Franc can also be directly accessed through the following URL:

You may of course have questions which I will try my best and answer (possibly with the help of Yves Le Franc who has much more experience in the field than I have)

James - would you please check the list of this e-mail's recipents and tell me if I forgot someone?

Eivind has suggested the discussion could take place on the wiki, which can be found here: http://wp12183585.server-he.de/npubwiki/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Raphael has granted me editing access and a dedicated page: http://wp12183585.server-he.de/npubwiki/wiki/index.php/SDs/S-100_Gap_Analysis Everybody should feel free to add/edit his page. Please contact Raphael if you don't have a login/password to edit on the wiki.

Also, let me know if you'd like one or more VTCs set up for live discussions?

Best regards,

Rod
