Definitions:
The maximum allowed net tonnage of a vessel. A net ton is the taxable gross tonnage of a merchant ship. The net tonnage is produced by a formula which is a function of the moulded volume of all cargo spaces of the ship (International Conventioin on Tonnage Measurements in Ships, 1969).
