Drafted by Northern before SNPWG 6

Agreed SNPWG8

Jens14.12. totber and vstber should be placed to HRBFAC. SMCFAC is only been used for facilities, not for berths. Berth are in S57 term HRBFAC

DA 27 Mar 08 I see a SMCFAC as being a marina, yacht club or small craft moorings. See def “A place at which …" I see that SMCFAC is a distinction for HRBFAC. Therefore it seems to me that HRBFAC does not deal with small craft. Also CATSCF = 1 is visitor’s berth. This means to me that visitors can be accepted. totber and vstber give detail about the capacity of the SMCFAC.

Jens 12 July 08 o.k. I thought once more about this problem. At the moment I see that both SMCFAC and HRBFAC dealing with facilities. Therefore it is only an intuitive point of view where to place the quantity. I will check this problem on Monday with our ENC guys and come back.

DA 11 Aug 08. Also done some research. I agree that totber and vstber is probably best applied to HRBFAC as it is used in the way that I expected SMCFAC to be used. I do not think that vstber would mean much for say a container or RoRo terminal.

jens 17:48, 15 November 2008 (CET) Again. Seems we run in circle. According to S57 the distinction for HRBFAC is SMCFAC. SMCFAC is dealing with visitors berth. Why not providing the quantity of those there? We are back at our initial point. We should add both to SMCFAC and try how it works when developing a "How to use". Noticing it works wrong we can move to HRBFAC again. Or my English is so bad that my interpretation of the sentence is total different from that what an Englishman means. David, please help me!!!
