GEO OBJECT CLASSES

Feature: Radio station

Acronym: RDOSTA

Camel case:

Spatial: point

Simple Attributes: CALSGN ; CATMAB; CATROS; COMCHA; ESTRNG; ORIENT; SIGFRQ; STATUS; TRMCTN; SCAMAX; SCAMIN;

Complex Attributes: fixedDateRange; information; featureName; PeriodicDateRange; SourceIndication; textualDescription;

Associated information object classes: CONDET2; SRVHRS;

Associated geographic features: RDOSVC;

Definition:

A place equipped to transmit radio waves. Such a station may be either stationary or mobile, and may also be provided with a radio receiver. In British terminology, also called w/t station. (IHO Dictionary, S-32, 5th Edition, 4191)

References:

INT 1: IS 10-16; M-4: 480.1; 481.1-3; 482; 483; 484;

Remarks:

The transmission of a radio station may serve to provide mariners with a line of position. (IHO Chart Specifications, M-4) The radio station may also broadcast information in many different methods to vessels or receive information from vessels. The object “radio station” is used to encode the point of transmission of the signal. The area in which the radio service can be obtained is described by an RDOSVC object.

Distinction:
