Harmful substances are those substances which are identified as marine pollutants in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code). Packaged form is defined as the forms of containment specified for harmful substances in the IMDG Code.

Remarks:

Substances (including mixtures and solutions) and articles subject to the provisions of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code are assigned to one of the classes 1-9 according to the hazard or the most predominant of the hazards they present. Some of these classes are subdivided into divisions. These classes or divisions are as listed in IDs 1 : 20 above. (Adapted from IMDG code www.imo.org).
